Kristen and Danni's Engagement Shoot, York

Kristen and Danni had been together for just over a year when they got engaged. They’d talked about marriage and I said that Kristen had always wanted to be the one that was asked rather than the one doing the asking. After dropping lots of hints nothing happened so Kristen stopped mentioning.

Kristen and Danni went to stay with friends as they had signed up to do a torch run through Dalby Forest. Danni had planned to pop the question on their walk through the forest but Kristen decided she didn’t want to go for a walk, wanting to save her energy for the run. With a quick change of plan Danni decided to ask her on the run instead, however, Kristen had to drop out!

The next day it was decided that they’d go for a walk around Whitby Abbey, this is where it finally happened. Danni handed Kristen a bottle which had a little note inside as she opened the bottle Danni got down on one knee and Kristen read the message on the little piece of paper “I love you, will you marry me?”. A small crowd had stopped to watch the events unfold and as Kristen said ‘Yes’ they clapped.

I was honoured to be asked to photograph their wedding day but first, we had a small engagement shoot. It was a lovely February day, just the right amount of spring in the air to feel warm and make you excited for summer. We had decided to do the shoot in a lovely park near York.

I really enjoy engagement shoots as it gives me time to get to know a couple better as a couple and I always feel it helps people relax more on the wedding day.

Here are a few of my favourites from the day:
