From Crazy Golf to Saying "I Do": Jim and Laura get married at the Midland Hotel

It all started with a surprising fact that Jim casually shared: penguin chocolate bars are actually bourbon biscuits drenched in chocolate. This quirky nugget, mentioned during their chats on Hinge which sparked a connection which turned into a beautiful romance, culminating in their wedding at the Midland Hotel.

Their first date took place at the Oast House in Manchester, where the bond was instant. They qucikly made plans for a second date at Junk Yard Golf. There, Laura discovered her not-so-stellar crazy golf skills, hitting the ball everywhere except the green—quite the sight for a golf pro like Jim!

In 2020 the unexpected happened. COVID-19 disrupted plans and locked us all down. As Boris imposed restrictions, it made sense for Laura and Jim to move in together, initially for just three weeks. Jim swapped his attic room rental for Laura's two-bedroom house. Jim made a promise to make her laugh daily—an promise he has honored since!

Fast forward to August 2022. While on a private boat cruising along the River Douro in Porto, Jim surprised Laura with a proposal. In true Jim fashion, the proposal lacked a concrete plan. Just two hours before their departure, he darted off to the Trafford Centre to buy the ring, while Laura remained blissfully unaware of his scheming.

They got married at the Midland Hotel and we took photos in it's wonderful interiors and the area around the hotel. It was a day filled with fun, laughter and tears.

Here are a few of my favourites from the day:
