  • Chris and Dannielle tie the knot at Villa Farm, York

Chris and Dannielle had been together for just over a year when they got engaged. They’d talked about marriage and I said that Chris had always wanted to be the one that was asked rather than the one doing the asking. After dropping lots of hints nothing happened so Chris stopped mentioning it. Chris and Dannielle went to stay with friends as they had signed up to do a torch run through Dalby Forest. Dannielle had planned to pop the question on their walk through the forest but Chris decided she didn’t want to go for a walk, wanting to save her energy for the run. With a quick change of plan Dannielle decided to ask her on the run instead, however, Chris had to drop out! The next day it was decided that they’d go for a walk around Whitby Abbey, this is where it finally happened. Dannielle handed Chris a bottle which had a little note inside as she opened the bottle Dannielle got down on one knee and Chris read the message on the little piece of paper “I love you, will you marry me?”. A small crowd had stopped to watch the events unfold and as Chris said ‘Yes’ they clapped. It’s now August and I’m in York to Photograph Chris and Dannielle’s wedding. It’s a lovely summer's day warm and bright, a great day for an outside wedding. The brides are getting ready with family and friends all around them. It’s a lovely atmosphere and quite calm in both houses although there is an air of excitement. The wedding is at Villa Farm, there is a lovely wooden building at the end of a long walkway through the grass, the chairs are set up and the guests are ready as first Chris then Dannielle walk down the aisle accompanied by a bagpiper in full Scottish dress. The tipi is set up with music albums everywhere instead of table names, it’s a lovely nod to Chris’s musical passion. Later she picks up her guitar and sings a few songs to Dannielle. It’s a lovely wedding and I hope you enjoy looking through the photos. Congratulations Mrs & Mrs!

  • Carlita and Skyla's Mothers Day Mini Shoot

Carlita’s Fiance bought her a Mother’s day mini shoot as a special treat for her and Sklya to enjoy. It was a few months later that we went out to so the shoot as sadly Carlita’s dad had been really ill. It had been raining on and off all morning but we decided to do the shoot anyway and risk the rain. We had a lovely walk around the park and Skyla loved seeing the ducks. I love mini shoots, they are the perfect way to capture a little moment in time, if you are interested in having a mini or full family shoot get in touch and we can discuss options. Here are a few of my favourites:

  • Becky and Tim get married at Crossgate Church and Lancaster

Becky and Tim first met at a university residential for the long distance uni they attended. Becky saw Tim across the room and thought he was really very handsome and he just lit up the room with his sense of humour. Tim on the other hand just noticed her bum and how good he thought it looked. Despite these first impressions they became friends but after a year Tim couldn’t stand being just friends and he asked her on a date. They went bowling and Tim saw nothing wrong with thoroughly beating her at two games of bowling and 2 games of pool. Becky let that slide and they went on another date and another and another. This little coffee shop became the place Tim would ask Becky to marry him. Tim had booked out the whole of the upstairs for them both and Becky not expecting a thing suddenly found him down on one knee proposing. She couldn’t stop smiling as they made calls to family and friends to tell them the good news. Skip forward a few months and today is their wedding day. It is a lovely June day and the sun seems to be breaking through the clouds. Becky and her girls are getting ready at a local hotel and Tim is getting ready at the church they are getting married at. There is an excitement in the air as everyone gets ready, an excitement that wouldn't change throughout the day. My favourite bit after the service was the fact that they had a bouncy castle! We managed to grab a few photos on there before the kids took over. Jumping for love! After the ceremony everyone headed to Lancaster to a little village hall which Becky, Tim, their family and friends had decorated amazingly well, it was really transformed. This wedding was filled with fun and laughter. It was such an amazing day and they're an amazing couple. Congratulations Becky and Tim!

  • Becky and Tim's Engagment Shoot

Becky and Tim first met at a university residential for the long distance uni they attended. Tim had booked out the whole of the upstairs for them both and Becky not expecting a thing suddenly found him down on one knee proposing. She couldn’t stop smiling as they made calls to family and friends to tell them the good news. It wasn’t till a little later when they were walking around Tatton Park talking about how their new life together that what had just happened sunk in and Becky realised she was getting married and she was going to go wedding dress shopping and she started to squeal! Thoroughly confused Tim wasn’t sure what all the excitement was over a dress. I’m really excited to be photographing their wedding in a months time but for now here are a few of my favourites from our engagement shoot:

  • Amie-Lea and Zac get married at the Last Drop Village, Bolton

Zac and Amie-Lea seem to have known each other all their lives even though they only remember really meeting at High School. They started dating when they were just 14 and have been together ever since then. They are definitely original high school sweethearts with University and work life not keeping them apart. Before Amie-Lea turned 21 Zac knew it was time to propose and so he went shopping for the ring and picked one he knew Amie loved. Knowing she is a traditional girl he plucked up the courage to ask Amie’s mum and dad for her hand in marriage to which they happily agreed. The day had finally come and they were on holiday in St Ives. Zac was off his food and couldn’t eat properly with all the nerves floating around. Going for a walk after their evening meal they headed to Smeatons Pier overlooking St Ives Harbour. Zac pointed out the lights of the church trying to distract Amy as he fidgeted looking for the ring as Amie turned around to ask what he was doing he wasn’t stood next to her but on his knee. Not being able to see clearly in the dark Amy took a step forward and the lights bounced off the shiny ring and he asked her to marry him. She replied with “are you cereal?” (no not a spelling mistake just a little inside joke they both have). Amie, of course, said yes and Zac could finally relax and enjoy the rest of the holiday. I first met Zach and Amie-Lea at a wedding Fayre in Bolton about two years ago and they asked me to meet up with them and discuss their wedding day to which I happily agreed. They are such a lovely and genuine couple I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding. The day finally arrived and the sun was shining all over Lancashire as I drove to the Last Drop Village in Bolton. Amie and her girls were getting ready and just enjoying the morning. Meanwhile Zac and his boys were nervously getting ready back home. I love the joy and happiness that just emanated from every part of this ceremony, not just from the couple but also the friends and relatives that were there. It made for such a special moment.  The reception was beautifully designed by Amy and her mum. You could tell they had put their heart and soul into it. I love this sequence of photos, it just makes me smile every time I see them. Not many brides do a bouquet toss anymore but it was a lovely moment, how excited it the lady who caught it?

  • Darcey's Cake Smash

I do love a good birthday and today I got to photograph this wonderful little girls cake smash for her first birthday. We decided on a pretty pink and white theme. Janine (Darcey’s mum) made her a little tutu and the cake. It was a lovely photo session and more importantly a lovely set of photos that they can both look back on in the years to com. Have a look at some of my favourites here:

  • Meeting Harry

I remember photographing Mark and Alex’s wedding as if it was yesterday, I also randomly remember a cow trying to muscle in on our photos of them in the barn, anyway, skip to 4 years later and I’m photographing their little boy Harry. He’s 4 months old and super cute. He definitely looks like a great mix of both his mum and dad and even has that cheeky little smile most boys seems to be born with. I do love watching my clients families grow and that I get to be a part of capturing these memories.

A small crowd had stopped to watch the events unfold and as Chris said ‘Yes’ they clapped. I was honoured to be asked to photograph their wedding day but first, we had a small engagement shoot. It was a lovely February day, just the right amount of spring in the air to feel warm and make you excited for summer. We had decided to do the shoot in a lovely park near York. I really enjoy engagement shoots as it gives me time to get to know a couple better as a couple and I always feel it helps people relax more on the wedding day. Here are a few of my favourites from the day:

  • Amelia and Harry John's Engagement Shoot - The Chevin, Leeds

Harry John and Amelia met at Bradford Grammar School in 2008 when she joined the sixth form. Harry John was the Rugby captain and Amelia says she had some competition but she got her man in the end. After a whirlwind high school romance they both headed of to university, HJ headed to Nottingham and Amelia headed to Sheffield but distance was no obstacle for these two and they kept their long distance relationship alive and in 2015 bought their first house together. I think I should let Amelia tell you the rest of the story as I think it’s pretty perfect... “We’d be getting the marriage questions for about a year before he did it....I always thought he’d be a blubbering mess when he proposed as he’s quite a sensitive guy but he completely threw me by surprise! On November 3rd 2016 - I’d had a bad day at work - I’d rang HJ when I was driving back from Newcastle - he was at the gym with a friend of ours who was living with us at the time - I basically told him not to annoy me off cos I wasn’t in the mood. When he was leaving the gym he just casually decided to tell our friend “tonight’s the night - I’m gonna do it” which caused our friend to freak out as he didn’t want to be in the house to “ruin the moment”... he proceeded to hide in his room for the evening! They made a detour to Morrisons to buy me some flowers - so as I walked in HJ handed me a lovely bunch of roses and gerbera flowers - I wasn’t suspicious as I thought he was trying to cheer me up, which I thought was cute because he’s terribly allergic and can’t stop sneezing around flowers. He then said he had another small gift for me but he’d said it’s upstairs - he told me to sit on the bed as close my eyes - so I obliged - this isn’t meant to sound like a load of dirty innuendos by the way. He was rustling around in the room next door and me being me I was getting all restless and told him to hurry up (terrible upon reflection). Eyes still covered, he came back into our room and I felt him standing in front of me and he said “you know how much I love you don’t you” and I said “yes” - he then said open your eyes and had the box open in front of me ... which I looked at and then looked at his face, to see him with a beaming smile and then he said “will you marry me?” To which I actually said are you f###ing joking?!? To which he said ‘Amelia no!’ Then I screamed and said yes...and told him to get down on one knee which he refused haha.” I love this couple they are so much fun and we had a great time celebrating their engagement with this session. I can't wait to photograph their wedding.

  • Meeting Arran

It's almost Christmas and I’m driving to Blackburn to meet Grace, Matt and Arran for a photo session. This is a lovely present form Grace’s family, I’m photographing her sister’s wedding in August, they wanted to do something special for her first baby so bought her a photo shoot with their new little week old baby boy. I arrive and meet this new little family. Aaron is super cute, he has a gorgeous smile and doesn’t even seem bothered by the prospect of photos. Mind you at a week old he has no idea what is about to happen. After a bit of setup we start taking some photos. He completely works the camera pulling some great faces at me. You can see his little personality coming out in the photos. Mum Grace is watching on while Dad Matt makes everyone a brew. Arran decides he also needs a drink so we pause for milk and a clean nappy. I love taking photos with new families, it captures a moment in time most new parents don’t always remember with the mix of sleepless nights, constant feeding and nappy changes. Babies are only tiny for so long and then they start to stretch and change as they get older. It was a lovely photo shoot with such a wonderful family. Here are a few of my favourites from the session:

  • Meeting Joel

I photographed Lewis and Becky's wedding in 2015 and it was so lovely to go back and photograph the next big milestone in their life when baby Joel arrived. I love being a part of my clients lives and seeing their families grow and it’s great that I get to be a part of it. He is super cute and it was lovely to capture family life just as it is starting.

  • Jon and Nikki Farm Wedding

Jon and Nikki met at the church they attend. Nikki is a professional trumpet player and music teacher and Jon loves playing the bass and they both play in the church worship team. That first brew date they couldn’t stop talking even as the chairs and tables where tidied around them, the staff waited patiently to go home but time for Jon and Nikki had stopped still. They could have stayed and talked for hours but they eventually got kicked out. A while later Jon picked the perfect engagement ring for Nikki, it was a vintage ring from a little jewellery store in Brighton Lanes. He had hand carved a jewellery box from a piece of wood he had salvage on a holiday in Wales. They decided one day to take their dog Jake on a walk along one of their favourite beaches in St Annes, Lytham and now was the time for Jon to ask the question. Jon plucked up the courage and Nikki said yes. It was the perfect moment for this outdoor loving couple. It was a lovely day in September the sun was out and shining and Nikki and her girls were getting ready at her Mum’s house. The place was buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Meanwhile, the boys were being their typical relaxed selves and Jake the dog was getting his outfit on too. The wedding was at Crossgate Church in Preston, the church they both attend, which was decorated with gorgeous watercolours and  festival decorations transforming the space entirely, it was beautiful. The reception was at a local farm in Preston, the owner owns and restores old steam engines and fairground rides which made for a great backdrop for photos. Nikki’s school band came and played whilst people played on the carnival games and tried some of the coffee from the cart. One of my favourite parts of the day was when Nikki's Mum, who plays the trombone, and some friends marched into the venue playing their instruments. It was so much fun and Nikki was so surprised.
