  • Beth and Peter’s intimate Beeston Manor wedding

Beth and Peter opted for a small, intimate wedding at Beeston Manor in Hoghton, near Preston. Beeston Manor is a 16th century barn, set in 140 acres of land, that’s been lovingly converted into a stunning venue, filled with character. And just like their chosen venue, Beth and Peter’s wedding had bags of character and special moments. I love to capture a couple’s character and personality, ensuring the photos really tell their story and reflect their day. In Beth and Peter’s case, that included Beth’s amazing red sparkly shoes! I also sneakily caught a lovely intimate moment between the newly-weds, when Beth signed to Peter, who’s deaf, during our couple portraits. After the ceremony, we braved the freezing temperatures and ventured out into the beautiful grounds. The stunning setting provided a perfect backdrop and thankfully Beth and Peter were so wrapped up in one another they barely noticed the cold. Congratulations again to Beth and Peter, it was an honor to be part of your special day.

  • Tiffany and Oli get married, Garstang Golf CLub

Tiffany and Oli got married at Fulwood Free Methodist church in March this year. They were having a smaller wedding so they chose to only have me there for part of the day. I arrived just before the ceremony. Tiffany’s mum had been ill just before and in hospital so it was touch and go if she could come but she was there and everyone was so relieved. The ceremony was lovely and full of laughs and joy, I love when couples make each other laugh effortlessly, it’s so lovely to see. The reception was at Garstang golf club and although a bit chilly it was dry and we got to have some photographs in the lovely gardens. Tiffany and Oli met at church years ago when they were teenagers, and became friends. Years later we got together and he proposed during a day trip to Paris! Here are a few of my favourites from the day:

  • Beki and Dan get married at Didsbury House, Manchester

Beki and Dan’s story started as an office romance, back in 2010. A year later, Beki up-sticks from London to Manchester, to start her new life with Dan. Beki and Dan’s wedding was my first of 2023, and it got my year off to a lovely start. They opted for a relatively small wedding, with just 45 guests and the whole day had a really nice and relaxed atmosphere. The ceremony was at 4pm at Didsbury House, a boutique Victorian hotel, situated in the leafy Manchester suburb of Disbury. The venue’s chic and classy styling complemented Beki’s simple and elegant dress and flowers perfectly. Beki and Dan were a real class act and it was a pleasure to be part of their special day. Here are a few of my favourites:

  • Amy and Rob’s wedding at Astley Bank Hotel

Amy and Rob met in 2019, after they both ‘swiped right’ on that infamous dating app. Initially the pair decided to just go for a coffee, as friends. They picked Starbucks for their first rendezvous, as they needed somewhere fairly quiet and bright so Amy, who’s deaf, could concentrate whilst she got used to Rob’s voice and how he spoke. Amy and Rob instantly hit it off, and quickly rebadged their ‘coffee with a friend’ to their ‘first date’. Two years after their first date, Rob and Amy were walking along the local canal, taking in the fresh, crisp winter air. As they meandered alongside the water, they came to a marina where they were planning to stop for a rest. However, it was so busy that Rob said they should carry on a little further and find somewhere quieter. So the pair happily plodded along until they arrived at a quant bridge over the canal, to a farmyard. It was there, with no one but them and a field of cows, that Rob asked Amy to marry him (once he’d managed to drag her away from watching with the cows in the neighbouring farm, that is!). Amy, of course, said ‘Yes!”. I’d actually met Amy a few years ago, when I was the photographer at her friend’s wedding. Amy was one of Beth and Peter’s bridesmaids, so I’d got to spend quite a lot of time with her, which was lovely, as it meant when I came to Amy and Rob’s big day it felt like I already knew them. Amy and Rob chose Astley Bank Hotel in Darwen for their wedding. Astley Bank is a beautifully preserved 19th century mansion, set amongst six acres of gardens, so provided lots of options for photographs. The weather on the day was a mix of sunshine and showers, but that resulted in a beautiful rainbow, which we just had to go out and capture. The November wedding was given an autumnal theme, which Amy and Rob had carried through beautifully. The bridesmaids’ dresses were a lovely jade green, which perfectly complemented their burnt orange bouquets. However, rather than using the same flowers for their centrepieces, the couple dressed the tables with Lego and other figures, all from their favourite films - which added a great little personal touch, as well as a great talking point for their guests. The whole day was filled with so much joy and excitement, not just from Amy and Rob, but from all their guests too. Here are a few shots of their special day:

  • Katie and Liam’s autumnal wedding at Didsbury House Hotel

Katie and Liam met whilst working at a summer camp in Spain, back in 2013. Later that year, Katie moved to Manchester and the couple dated for a couple of years before moving in together. The pair got engaged on a beach in West Ireland, which was a really special spot for Katie as it was somewhere she’d spent a lot of time as a kid, whilst visiting her large Irish family. Liam had to go through the ‘aunty test’ before being accepted into the family - thankfully he passed and so the couple were able to set about planning their big day Katie and Liam didn’t want lots of photos of them getting ready on the day, so asked if they could just book me for a few hours to capture their ceremony and wedding party. I joined them at their venue, which was the beautiful Victorian townhouse, Didsbury House Hotel, near Manchester, in time for their 4pm ceremony. It was a really nice family-focused wedding and Katie and Liam are such a lovely couple. They had a beautiful sunny autumn day, and the late ceremony time meant there was a perfect dappled light for their photographs. There were fallen leaves all over the ground at Didsbury House Hotel, which gave the most amazing autumnal backdrop. So even though I was only with them for a short time, we were still spoilt for choice for beautiful images - here are a few of my favourites:

  • Daisy and Charlie’s church wedding and reception at Albert’s, Standish.

Daisy and Charlie are another online dating success story - in today’s modern world it really is a great way for couples to meet, whose lives would never otherwise interact. The romance continued and the couple got engaged in the ‘city of love’, Paris! For their wedding ceremony, Daisy and Charlie picked the local church that Daisy had attended as a child. It was a lovely, intimate ceremony, in a venue that clearly meant a lot to the family. After the ceremony, the couple jumped into an amazing vintage VW van, hired from the lovely chaps at Warren’s Vintage, to take them on to the reception at Albert’s Restaurant in Standish. Albert’s is a really stylish venue, with lots of natural light and a pretty private terrace, which made it an ideal setting for their photographs. I was only with the couple for a few hours, but what a lovely few hours it was and I was able to capture so many magical moments:

  • Kitty and Curtis’s surprise wedding!

When is a Christening, not a Christening? When it’s actually a surprise wedding! When Kitty and Curtis were planning their wedding, they decided they wanted to do things a little differently. They didn’t actually tell any of their guests they were getting married. Instead they lured them all to the Church under false pretenses, claiming it was a Christening, for their daughter. This was definitely a new one for me. Waiting at the church beforehand, it was only me and the priest that were in on it. So we were desperately trying to act cool, as everyone was gathering and taking their seats. It was only when the doors opened and Kitty walked in with her Dad, wearing her wedding dress that the big surprise was revealed. Everyone immediately gasped and looked completely stunned, before breaking into cheers and laughs. It was such a fab and unforgettable moment for all their guests, and for me too! I was so glad they chose me to capture such a priceless moment. After the church, we all headed over to Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club for the reception. By this point, the shock had just about dissipated and the guests were ready to let their hair down and party with the happy couple.

  • Catherine and Oliver get married at Lytham Hall

Catherine and Ollie met at school, at the age of 12! They remained friends throughout high school, college and uni too. They dated off and on during this time - but after uni, they went their separate ways for a few years, before meeting back up and rekindling their romance. In 2019, Ollie was signed up to run the Berlin Marathon and at the time, Catherine was 6 months pregnant, with their son Rory. So the couple thought they’d seize the opportunity for a little getaway before the baby arrived. It was definitely a momentous trip, as not only did Ollie complete the marathon, but he and Catherine also got engaged. Unfortunately, the couple were let down by their original photographer, so got in touch with me on the recommendation of an old family friend. Coincidently, after meeting Catherine and Ollie it turned out they actually knew my aunt and uncle. Catherine and Ollie wanted a fairly small wedding, with just their nearest and dearest, so they could spend time with everyone and really enjoy celebrating together. The couple picked the lovely Lytham Hall for their big day. This beautiful Georgian manor house, set in nearly 80 acres of parkland, is a beautiful venue, and provided the perfect romantic and intimate feel that Catherine and Ollie were looking for. The gardens at Lytham Hall are particularly gorgeous, but unfortunately the weather wasn’t really on our side and it rained off and on throughout the day. I kept an eye out the window and so when there was a break in the rain, we seized the opportunity to nip out and capture a few shots outside. Here’s a little selection of images from Catherine and Ollie’s special day:

  • Bethan and Gareth’s wedding at St Mary’s Church and Foxfields Country Hotel.

Bethan and Gareth met online and knew fairly quickly that they’d found ‘the one’. After a few years of dating the couple got engaged and embarked on paw-enthood, adding a dog to their little family. I’d photographed Bethan’s sister's wedding a few years ago, so I was delighted when the couple got in touch and asked me to photograph their big day too. It’s always tricky picking which suppliers to use for your wedding, so it’s a great idea to ask friends and family for their recommendations. Bethan and Gareth actually ended up using quite a few of the same suppliers as her sister did, which was lovely. Bethan and Gareth chose the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Penwortham for their wedding ceremony. It was a really hot summer’s day and we were all melting outside, but the church was nice and cool and provided the perfect setting. After the service, we headed over to Foxfields Country Hotel near Clitheroe for the wedding reception. Bethan and Gareth had opted for a musicals theme and laid on lots of games (for both the kids and grown ups!), which made for a really fun day. After the first dance, all the guests even got up and did a spot of line dancing together! In the evening, we were blessed with a stunning sunset, which made an amazing backdrop to their photos. Bethan and Gareth had also organised sparklers for the guests, so as it got darker, we all headed outside and I was able to capture some great shots of everyone enjoying them. Here’s a selection of my favourites from the day:

  • Amy and Jake’s wedding at Cragwood Country House Hotel, Windermere.

Amy and Jake met in 2015 through the infamous Tinder app. After many swipes, they both found their perfect match in one another. The spent months talking, but distance kept them apart, until they finally met up in Manchester for their first date. Despite Jake being hungover and so not on top form, he clearly did something right as Amy was smitten. Fast forward and after a few years of dating, Jake whisked Amy away to her favourite holiday destination, The Lake District. It was there, in Waterhead, that Jake knelt down on bended knee and promptly popped the question. Amy immediately burst into tears, but finally managed to get out a ‘yes!’. Unfortunately then the COVID pandemic struck, but that wasn’t going to stop this pair from planning their dream day. After finding my details in a magazine, we arranged a video meeting so we could have an initial chat. During our zoom call, Amy had mentioned she liked sheep, and Jake mentioned his love of lego, so I searched out some Lego sheep for them to build together during lockdown. Once lockdown was lifted the couple were able to finally firm up their wedding details and booked me for their photography. Amy and Jake chose Cragwood Country House Hotel for their wedding, in the beautiful surroundings of Windermere, in their beloved Lake District. It was a really lovely day, with lots of personal finishing touches - all their planning through lockdown had clearly paid off. I was absolutely delighted and really touched to see that my Lego sheep had even been incorporated into their special day, and sat pride of place atop their wedding cake! Here are just a few of my favourites from their big day:

  • Laura and Ross intimate Registry Office wedding with photos at Hurst Grange Park

When Laura and Ross were planning their wedding they decided they wanted to have a really personal and family oriented day. They opted for an intimate ceremony at Preston Registry Office, with just close family and friends. They chose their daughter to be bridesmaid so she could play a key part in their special day. I joined Ross at the Registry Office and we enjoyed some laughs as he nervously awaited the arrival of his bride. As soon as he saw Laura walk in those his nerves dissipated and their service was lovely. Laura and Ross had booked me for a 2-hour photoshoot, so after the ceremony, we hot-footed it over to Hurst Grange for photographs. The weather was looking ominous but the couple really hoped to beat the rain. I managed to capture both formal group shots as well as pictures of just the couple, in the park’s beautiful surroundings before the rain arrived. After the photographs at Hurst Grange I left the couple to enjoy the rest of their day, including their delicious cake made by a very talented member of their family. • Tom and Pippa get married at Holy Trinity Church, Hoghton and Mitton Hall

Tom and Pippa have known each other since they were kids. They’d even briefly dated when they were teenagers but went their separate ways. Fast-forward to 2020, when the couple reconnected and at that point, they knew that this was ‘the one’. And that, as they say, was that! After photographing Tom’s sister’s (2014( and the brothers (2017) wedding, the couple asked me to do their engagement shoot and subsequently their wedding too. The couple tied the knot at Holy Trinity Church [https://www.holytrinityhoghton.com/] in Hoghton, followed by a reception at Mitton Hall [https://www.mittonhallhotel.co.uk/] in Clitheroe. It was such a lovely day to be part of and you could really feel just how happy Tom and Pippa were. The reception was lots of fun and the couple had laid on some special extra touches for their guests including hiring an Ice Cream truck [https://www.littlebillys.co.uk/] and a magic photo booth [www.themagicphotobooth.co.uk].
